How to Qualify for SSB Interview
Till now just understand that if you want to become an officer in Indian Armed Forces then you have to go through this. Now the question is how one can get a chance to attend this SSB interview. For that, there are various exams conducted by UPSC like NDA & NA, CDS, AFCAT, etc. Also, you can directly apply for SSB Interview in some technical entries if you are able to fulfill all conditions mentioned.Detail Procedure of SSB Interview
Now you are in a state of mind that what one has to do in this interview so let's move towards the procedure of SSB interview.Here your interview is conducted for 5 and you have to go from various tests. These tests are both type of physical and mental too. Each test has its own meaning and benefits. I hope you are now very keen to come to know about each day's procedure of SSB.
DAY - 0
It is the day in which you arrived at the SSB center. And allotted by chest numbers. Some formal documentation is done and you are free for the whole day. For some SSB centers, there is no day -0 they directly start screening test as we will see it soon. If your reporting time is 9 am then that center having a day 0 facility. Or if your reporting time is 6-7 am then your tests are going to start on that day itself.DAY - 1
On this day your very important test is taken which is called a Screening Test. It is one type of mini SSB if you clear this then you can stay at the SSB center for five days. If you are unable to clear this then you are not qualified for further tests. To understand the importance of the SSB screening test. This test is divided into two parts one is OIR and the other is PPDT. In OIR two test sheets will be given to you one is verbal whereas the other is non-verbal. And in PPDT you will be shown one picture for 30 seconds and you have to write a story on that after completion of your story you will be divided into groups in that you have to narrate your story in front of the group and after that group discussion occurs in which the whole group should make common group story or conclusion.DAY - 2
Those candidates who are passed the screening tests only can remain for further SSB Interviews. On day 2 your Psychological test is conducted. In that, there are 4 tests involved.First is the TAT - Thematic Appreciation Test. This is the same as PPDT but here you will be shown with 12 slides and you have to write a story on each slide. The last slide is blank. And you can write any story in that as your mind says. The time given for each story writing is 4 minutes.
The second is WAT - Word Association Test. Here you will be shown 60 words back to back. Each word will be on screen for 15 seconds and you have to write about that word or whatever comes to your mind on one sheet.
The third test is the SRT - Situation Reaction Test. Here you will be provided with one booklet in that 60 situations are given and you have to write your response if you are suffering from that situation. The time given for this test is 30 minutes. Forth and the last test is SD - Self Description here you have to write that

That's is. On day 2 of the SSB Interview this all tests are taken and also in the afternoon session, there are some of the personal interviews conducted as the capacity of the board.
DAY - 3
This day 3 and day 4 are full of ground tasks. For now, I will explain to you what are tasks on this day. Ground sessions are called GTO in the SSB interview that is Group Testing Officer. Tasks conducted on day 4 are,- Group Discussion
- Progressive Group Task
- Half Group Task
- Group Obstacles Race
DAY - 4
Ground tasks conducted on day 4 are- Lecturette
- Individual Obstacles
- Command Task
- Group Planning Exercise
- Final Group Task
The sequence may change sometimes. In afternoon sessions Personal Interviews are conducted by the board on days 3 and 4. Here all tests involved in SSB interviews are over now you can relaxed. You will be given some time to spend outside the SSB Center.
DAY - 5
It is the most important day in SSB Interview because whatever you did in all four days their results will be declared on this day. On day 5 board conference is there that's why this is also called a conference day. Here you will be called in front of the whole SSB Board and asked some questions like How is your stay? Have you faced some problems? , etc, or sometimes you will be given some situations and asked your responses on that.Now after your lunch the exciting moment is there. One technical Officer came with the result file in his hand. He announces the chest no. of recommended candidates. Those who are recommended will stay there for medical examination and others are asked to leave the SSB Centre.
